About Rock Therapy
01
We. All. Exercise. And ultimately that’s what we’re about at Rock Therapy. We believe that the key to living a long and happy life, is being able to move and enjoy yourself without pain or stiffness being a limitation, regardless of what you want to do. Whether it be picking up your children, dealing with long days at work, or achieving that big sporting goal, regular exercise (even just a little bit each day) combined with hands on treatment can go a long way to achieving these goals.
This is why we offer so many different modalities, all inside of a big functional gym space. All of our practitioners have a passion for health and sport, so be it myotherapy, remedial massage or osteopathy, they’ll be able to draw on their own life experience whilst applying the skills they have to work through your specific issue. Ultimately, our aim is for you to take control of your own pain through exercise and movement; so even though all of our treatment plans will generally start with some form of hands-on treatment (unless of course you’re goals and issues require exercise and mobility work only) we’ll try to progress you to a point where you’re managing your own issues, with minimal input from us. This approach maximises the long term effectiveness of any treatments we prescribe, whilst making sure you don’t become dependent on us (as much as we love getting to hang out with our patients).
We do specialise in rock climbing injuries, however due to the full-body nature of the sport, we’re regularly exposed to problems throughout the entire body. Be it ankle sprains, rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, lower back pain, tendonitis or osteoarthritis, our practitioners are constantly exposed and capable of managing these issues from initial injury pain management, early stage rehab right through to sport specific strength and conditioning!
All of the team here at Rock Therapy are avid rock climbers and train regularly. So we know firsthand all about muscle strains, joint and ligament pain and all types of injuries. Your treatment will be tailored specifically to your body, your injury and the pain you’re experiencing. No standard treatments here, we’ll also listen to your problems. So! Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage and Rock Climbing I love rock climbing. I’ve been climbing since I was 6 and have run into a lot of injuries along the way. One of the things I found most helpful for my own recovery was remedial massage. Tight forearms, shoulders, and back muscles, as well as stiff joints are all part of climbing. Getting regular massage work really helped me train as hard and often as possible. This then led me to manual therapy, specifically remedial massage. I studied at Endeavour College and found that […]

I have had a lot of injuries. Weird brag, I know, but with the majority of my sporting life being focussed around rock climbing and long distance running, I’ve injured just about every part of my body. This has given me both an understanding of what rehab and treatment works best, but also what it’s like to mentally go through that experience. The things I value most from my therapists is a clear description of what my problem is, what the plan is going forward and how quickly I should expect […]

Myotherapist
I grew up riding dirt bikes, I found rock climbing as the addictive sport that it is in my early 20’s and, to make matters worse, also started enjoying long distance running in my 30’s. It’s easy to say that I’ve experienced my fair share of injuries, aches and pains over the years from all of these sports. I have a personal understanding of short term and chronic pain and the effects that it has on people both physically and mentally. I apply this experience to all of my treatments […]
