Golfers Elbow

Golfers Elbow

Golfer’s elbow, also known as medial epicondylitis, is a condition that causes pain and inflammation on the inner side of the elbow. It is a type of repetitive strain injury that occurs when the tendons that attach to the inside of the elbow become damaged due to repeated stress and strain.

Some common symptoms of golfer’s elbow include pain and tenderness on the inner side of the elbow, stiffness in the elbow joint, weakness in the forearm, and numbness or tingling sensations in the fingers.

Treatment options for golfer’s elbow may include rest, ice therapy, compression, and elevation (RICE) to reduce inflammation and pain. Physical therapy exercises can help to strengthen the muscles around the elbow joint, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can help to relieve pain and inflammation.

In more severe cases, corticosteroid injections or surgery may be necessary to relieve symptoms and restore full function to the affected arm. It is important to seek medical advice if you are experiencing persistent pain or discomfort in the elbow area, especially if you are an avid golfer or participate in other activities that require repetitive use of the forearm and wrist.

In addition to hands-on treatments, we may also provide advice on ergonomics and posture, as well as lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise that can help to promote overall health and well-being.
